The CORVO is a traditional Chilean Army combact knife. Its origins are misterious: it did probably arrive in the New World with the Spanish Conquistadores, who had already appreciated it during the war against the Moors. It shows undoubted affinities with Jambiya, the traditional Arab knife still used nowadays as a Yemen male clothing accessory. CORVO has been used during the War of the Pacific. It was produced in several versions such as: the Curved Corvo with the blade bending at almost 90° and the Corvo Atacameño which is longer but with a gentler bending of the blade for a higher flexibility during use. Extrema Ratio has been inspired by this second version.

The mortuary sword has very close ties to the English basket-hilt and is sometimes referred to as the English half-basket. This type was mainly a cavalry issued weapon of both Royalist and Parliamentarian forces. In fact, it may be looked at as the great grandfather of 18th and 19th century cavalry sabers. One of the best originals of this type of sword is one believed to have been owned by Oliver Cromwell - General of the Parliamentarian forces - and which now resides in the Royal Armories, London. This milestone among multipurpose knives, employed on a large scale in Afghanistan as standard issue equipment of the Italian “Nibbio” mission, originated with a COMALP Alpine Troops Command experimental project for renewing trooper equipment. As part of preparing for the mission, COMALP coordinated a team of companies toward creating a full experimental set of newly designed equipment for the individual trooper. Extrema Ratio was chosen by COMALP to develop a new multipurpose knife suitable for the infantry – a knife to be used in any operations anywhere, capable of successfully completing tasks that more specialized tools fail at. So successful were we that after this multipurpose knife followed the development of the Fulcrum Bayonet, an implementation of the same which can be mounted onto a trooper’s standard-issue rifle. An extremely tough and versatile knife, the Fulcrum’s blade can sustain loads of over 150 kilograms without breaking. The tanto-shaped blade allows for large amounts of work and wear while still retaining a sharp, penetrating edge at its exceedingly sturdy tip. Thanks to its weight and top-heavy balancing, the Fulcrum is also suitable for hard work on the field.

FULCRUM C is the compact version of FULCRUM. It retains all the characteristics of solidity and sturdiness, and thanks to its reduced blade size (only 110 mm) and handle, it is easily portable and concealable. The rigid scabbard can be positioned horizontally, vertically, or at a 45° angle. The scabbard's only safety mechanism is automatic, with extraction and reinsertion by pressure. This feature makes it an intuitive and extremely fast tool, particularly suitable for emergency use and personal defense. The original version of FULCRUM C comes with a compact 100mm handle. Extrema Ratio developed the first knife of a new production line, called CONTACT. It has a blade with a lance-shaped profile, a flat grinding and a diamond-shaped geometry. It has got a lower guard branch to protect the hand from accidental cuts, upper jumping to improve grip, a concave fuller along the entire length of the blade and a generous thickness blade (6.30mm) All these details make the Contact the elder brother of the now famous Requiem, revisited in proportions and in some technical features. The first of a new line of multipurpose knives. The blade is made in Böhler N690 steel with a hardness of 58 HRC and a chemical burnishing coating for the Black version. All other colours in production have got a blade with Stone Washed finishing. The handle is still in forprene . It is no more assembled by the side screws but thanks to the shank in truncated cone-shaped stainless steel that is screwed to the bottom and goes to fit inside a special seat, which makes it solid. In this way the knife is well balanced. The sheath is minimalist: most of the fabric has been cut off: it has got a 2nd level retention system, remembering the style of the model it was inspired by. The main shell is injection-molded in shockproof nylon. The secondary retention system is reversible for ambidextrous users. The blade is guided into the sheath thanks to its cone shape that lends itself well to the rapid insertion and extraction of the blade. To extract the blade, a pressure on the trigger will be sufficient, thus releasing the safety that holds it securely in the sheath. In the horizontal slits of the sheath a system is added, which fixes the blade to avoid shaking noises when it is stored inside. The back side of the nylon sheath is M.O.L.L.E. compatible. The textile part is reduced to its minimum and has got the classic two-button safety strap with a belt loop and a thigh band with rubber reinforcement for anti-rotation. Extrema Ratio aims at this new line by minimizing thickness and size of the knife, but not saving on structural strength and safety accessories.

K-Talon is a karabit with a particularly thin full-tang structure that, including the sheath and cheeks, reaches a thickness of only 10 mm. The curved, hooked blade is inspired by the shape of a claw, and is designed to achieve precise and deep cuts while also being able to hook, trap, and/or tear. The rear ring is designed to provide a strong and secure grip in all conditions, preventing the knife from slipping backwards and making it exceptionally difficult to disarm or turn against the user. The very thin Kydex sheath features a quick-release mechanism and is equipped with paracord that allows it to be used as a neck knife or attached to platforms using the MOLLE system.
